Why Is There Such A Demand For Blizzcon 2008 Tickets?

In the gaming world, not many franchises come even close to being compared to world of warcraft. The popular game boasts the largest online gaming community, estimated in the millions, in the world. For gaming fans and experts, conventions like Blizzcon 2008 are a way to mingle with other gamers, cosplayers, and game creators. Conventions are also where game companies try out their developing wares, show off their best products, and often announce and/or debut their next big thing.Blizzcon is no different. This year’s convention, Macworld.com tells us, will have costume contests (for those into dressing like their favorite characters from World of Warcraft and other Blizzard games), a songwriting competition, a dance contest, a motivational poster contest, a diorama contest, and gaming competitions for Warcraft III and World of Warcraft players. Top prize in the latter will be $25,000 per player.Participation Awards may be a wow cd key.Everyone who attends Blizzcon 2008 will also receive a goodie bag, which usually contains some pretty valuable merchandise. At last year’s Blizzcon, the goodie bag held a plastic key that Blizzard Entertainment revealed (ten months later, in July 2008) was a World of Warcraft CD Key to the forthcoming Wrath of the Lich King, the latest installment of the World of Warcraft saga. So, for those who are into gaming, Blizzcon 2008 tickets can turn out to be quite valuable indeed.

Ho to wasted your parents’ money

How to milk your college/university years and have a ‘hell of a good time’
Posted By ANDREW LOW, THE SUDBURY STAR
Posted 1 day ago
hat makes your college or university years special is it is the ideal time to chase members of the opposite sex,
sleep a little and spend the money.
To put it simply, it’s a hell of a good time — if you know how to do it properly.
So, instead of focussing on how to get good grades or something lame like that, I’m going to offer some advice on one of the few subjects I’m an expert on — how to waste money in school and then ask your parents for more so you can keep the good times rolling.
It’s all about spending money on good times and not worrying about the future (there’s plenty of time for that later) — but you have to make sure you remain in the green.
Sure, it’s important to study hard, but there are countless other people who will tell you about good study habits, to buckle down, complete assignments on time, blah, blah, blah, so I won’t waste time on that boring stuff.
After reflecting on my own experiences and studying my more apathetic classmates, I’ve compiled advice for students about to enter the expensive and all-too-often pointless world of post-secondary education.
THE FIRST STEP:
Take a pointless program. That’s the key. Usually, they are the choices that are easy or fun, but with limited job prospects.
In some cases, I’m convinced universities and colleges offer these programs to increase enrolment by attracting confused students who are far too lazy to take a practical program that will result in a job. And good on them for that. It gives you an opportunity to look like you’re doing something for your future while partying in the present.
Whatever you decide to take, it’s important to make the most of your down time. Everyone will say to work hard in class, but I’m here to tell you it’s equally important to work hard at taking it easy.
To be cool in college or university, you have to be ready to party. Somehow parents often forget this obvious reality, despite the fact they usually had a good time in school, too.
ANDREW’S LITTLE RULE:
It’s important to kick back. Here’s a little rule I use: When in doubt — agree to go drinking.
Don’t wait for the weekend either. The rest of your life will be about scheduling.
For these couple of years, be spontaneous and chug-a-lug whenever it feels right.
Don’t forget to text all your friends who are missing the fun. That costs money, but it’s worth it.
Another efficient waste of time is to play a lot of video games. Halo 3 is an education unto itself. You can talk about archetypes, animation, international diplomacy, philosophy, how to gain wow gold and more. Heck, you could probably even work a thesis around the game.
Since the days of pong, video games have been one of the most entertaining and addicting things our there. If you want to play 14 hours straight of world of warcraft
, who can blame you?
MOST IMPORTANT ADVICE:
When you’re actually in class, here’s an obvious tip that’ll help you throughout your post-secondary experience — remember to befriend the smart people.
This advice has helped billions of C, D and F students succeed in the world of academia since organized education began. If you need proof, remember George W. Bush has a history degree from Yale.
Now, your parents will no doubt want to see some results from your education, so you do have to give it a minimal effort — especially if you want to keep the good times rolling.
GETTING MOM & POP TO OPEN THE WALLET:
So, how do you get money from parents throughout the school year?
Here is my most important pieces of advice: lie, otherwise you might have to do something awful like get a job.
An excellent lie is to tell the folks textbooks are more expensive these days and that all the money they give you will go to school supplies. Textbooks are actually more expensive, but there’s no harm in exaggerating how bad it has become since they were in school.
If your parents are 40 or older, they’re starting to notice big cultural changes from their childhood — in other words, they’re out of touch. That’s why they’ll fall for bad excuses like, “I can’t afford my school supplies,” because they have no idea how much anything costs anymore.
When you ask them for money, follow these simple steps:
Pick the parent you ask wisely. You know your parents best — so make
sure you ask the one who is the biggest softy, usually the one that doesn’t handle the finances;
Pick the time carefully. The better the mood they’re in, the better your
chances are of getting some bucks. You can put them in a good mood by complimenting their cooking, golf game, whatever works;
Be confident and use eye contact. If you don’t sound like you really
believe you need the money, how do you expect your parents to? Depending on your relationship, it’s not a bad idea to give them a hug, but only if they agree;
Thank them afterwards. A good idea is to buy them a small gift with the money they gave you.
Remember, parents want their little angels to get their degrees and diplomas and grow up to be rich, happy and successful. As long as they see it as an investment in their kids, they’ll keep shovelling over the money. Suckers!
Whatever program you take, however much time you party, or play video games, or anything else, remember no time will be quite like your college education.
Soon enough you’ll be stuck in the work world, paying off all those student loans you created by following these pearls of wisdom I’ve dropped on you. In other words, you’ll be bogged down with other responsibilities.
And remember, all employers care about is that you have a diploma or degree. That 51 per cent is as good as a 90.
University and college are some of the best times of our lives. Don’t miss the experience.

Warcraft helps Vivendi games triple earnings

Division sales rise 6.7% during final quarter before Activision merger

Vivendi’s games unit’s earnings tripled on continued growth of its World of Warcraft (Currency: wow gold ) multi-player online-gaming franchise during the last full quarter before the company completed its merger with Santa Monica, Calif.-based Activision, which will form the world’s largest videogames publisher.
The Vivendi division’s second-quarter operating income jumped to 42 million euros ($61 million) from 12 million euros ($17.4 million) a year earlier, as the unit’s sales rose 6.7% to 223 million euros ($323.8 million), Paris-based Vivendi said in a statement yesterday. The parent company’s net income for the quarter was little changed.
Vivendi’s games unit completed its $9.85 billion acquisition of Activision, creating Activision Blizzard, in July, seven months after it was announced and three months after the European Union approved the transaction. The merger creates a publisher whose titles include Warcraft, the world’s biggest multi-player online game, and the Guitar Hero franchise. With annual revenue approaching $4 billion, Activision Blizzard unseated Electronic Arts as the world’s largest videogames publisher.
Warcraft, which has about 11 million active subscribers, makes up almost two-thirds of the worldwide multi-player online game market, according to Web site Mmogchart.com. During the first half of the year, Warcraft, the next version of which will be released by the end of the year, gained about 900,000 users, Vivendi said.

Blizzard: World of WarCraft’s Success is “Exhausting”

Blizzard’s Frank Pearce finds the world of warcraf
juggernaut to be quite tiring:
In an interview at Games Convention in
Leipzig he queried a question as to whether the title’s performance - beyond all expectations since launch - had been interesting to watch.
“I don’t know if I’d describe it as ‘interesting’ as much as exhausting,” he said. “We’ve got almost 3000 employees worldwide now, and the majority of that growth is due to the success of World of Warcraft.(Currency: wow gold )
“As a company we’ve found ourselves spread very, very thin - because the World of Warcraft community has a voracious appetite for content. That development team is 130 people, they’re working on content patches, they’re working on an expansion set, they’ve got their hands full - and then we’ve got the other development teams that we need to continue to support as well.
