Russian Language World of Warcraft Lands On August 6
The world’s most popular MMO may see many more subscribers.
World of Warcraft is huge. Oh, what? You already knew that? Your grandma dualboxes, and each of her 16 cats have accounts and rich in wow gold ? We’re not surprised, as WOW has consistently ranked as the world’s most popular MMO by subscriber accounts since its North American release in 2004. But what if we were to tell you that the subscription number is about to get even bigger, possibly substantially so?
On August 6, 2008 the Russian language version of World of Warcraft will be made available to European markets. As we’ve said before Russia is an increasingly important and popular market for PC gaming, one of the fastest growing in the world.
In fact, according to a June 18, 2008 report from The Voice of Russia, Standard & Poor analyzed the condition of the country’s economy and found that its “gross domestic product (GDP) has grown threefold over the past five years.” When a country’s GDP increases, so does expendable income, so we’re not surprised that Blizzard would choose the Russian market as the next region for expanding their service.
