Impressions: Wrath of the Lich King Beta

With Wrath of the Lich King, it seems Blizzard is taking a very iPod-esque approach to development.

Instead of drastically innovating and introducing new ideas to the MMO field, the company’s latest World of Warcraft expansion cribs the best ideas from other games and its own community and simply does them better than anyone else could have.

The result? Wrath’s beta feels like an elegant, more intuitive version of the current World of Warcraft universe, filled to the brim with ideas that, once you’ve experienced them, make going back to the regular game an exercise in frustration.

The first addition long-time, hardcore players will notice is the game’s inclusion of an Achievement system.

Like the system employed by Microsoft for its Xbox 360 games, Blizzard’s attempt rewards players for fulfilling certain in-game objectives with an arbitrary, not only wow gold , yet addictive, point collecting meta-game.

Far from a simple rip-off though, the system currently has 532 separate Achievements to earn, and meticulously tracks a player’s progress towards the various goals, including the nearly four years of gameplay prior to the next expansion’s release.

As a result I now know that my main character has completed 1,424 quests and earned a lot of wow gold ; a number just shy of the 1,500 quests needed for my next Achievement.

The other key addition is the in-game calendar now attached to each player’s mini-map.

By opening the calendar, players can find listings for all of Blizzard’s upcoming in-game events, as well as create their own events that can be edited with a minimum of mouse-clicks. These events can then be shared with any player or group you desire.

It seems like a small change, but for those guilds that need to plan raid times among 100+ people, it makes life much less complicated.

Gameplay in Wrath has seen very minor changes from the tried-and-true WoW formula.

Combat remains largely the same, and the 10 additional levels of skills players now have access to seem (mostly) balanced. Since it’s still a beta there are a few skills that are vastly overpowered, but minor tweaking before the expansion’s holiday release should amend those flaws.

Graphically the beta continues Blizzard’s streak of using gorgeous, if unrealistic, graphics. All the characters and locations in the beta’s newly added areas are more detailed than those found in the old world, but there is a clear lineage present and none of the new enemies look out of place in the game.

This added level of detail will require more computing power than the original game, but my laptop, which runs Burning Crusade content at a minimum of 40 frames per second on full detail, never once choked on the additions. Even in the most impressive new areas, frame rates never dipped below 20 frames per second.

Certainly this is good news for those who were turned off by the heavy system requirements of WoW competitors such as Age of Conan.

Problems owing to the game’s incomplete state still abound though. More than a quarter of the expansion’s planned content is still inaccessible, and reports of frequent crashes are common (though I’ve yet to experience any).

As usual with these betas, all of this is subject to change. I’m only a few hours into the thing, so expect more comprehensive impressions once I gain half a dozen more levels.

If there’s anything in particular you’re curious about, post a question in the comments and I’ll do my best to dig up an answer.

WoW Radio & Blizzard Hosting “Pass the Torch”

WoW Radio and Blizzard have plans to celebrate a new year of the broadcast which, just incidentally, occurs on opening day of the Olympic in Beijing . World of Warcraft fans will delight in the prizes which include beta access to Wrath of the Lich King and a vanity pet.

WoW Radio, in partnership with Blizzard Entertainment, is proud to announce the “Pass the Torch” contest. Since we’re launching our new season on the same day as the Olympic games commence, we thought it would be appropriate to give our grand giveaway an olympic theme.

Starting on the 8th of August, running through to the 12th, contestants will have to listen out for 5 ‘olympic rings’ (you’ll know them when you hear them), each of which contains a word. The torch will be passed from show to show, and each time it is, we’ll give out one of the secret words. When all 5 words are put together, they will form a phrase. Those who successfully complete the phrase, can email it to olympics@wcradio.com and will be entered into a grand prize draw to win a WWI card and wow gold ,which gives them beta access on either european, or US servers as well as the exclusive Tyrael vanity pet.

What’s more, listeners have plenty of chances to win, since we have not one, not two, but twenty cards to give away! The contest is open to everyone, and the winners will be drawn and announced on the show ‘Blue Plz’ on Friday the 15th of August. Those who miss the live shows, can download the podcast shortly after the show ends, or stream it from the website. Check out wcradio.com for more details, including a list of the shows which each olympic ring will appear in.

World of Warcraft makes gamers go ‘WoW’

Warlocks, paladins, priests, mages, shamans, druids, warriors and hunters come together with their various spells, attack patterns and special abilities to kill the ogre.

This magical world comes from the imagination of Blizzard Entertainment Company. The game: “World of Warcraft.”

For four years, the massive multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) has excited and thrilled more than nine million people around the world and also the business of wow gold  trade, luring them into this fantasy world where it’s Good versus Bad. Alliance versus the Horde.

In January 2009, “WoW” will celebrate its anniversary, and the party will start with the installment of the second expansion, “World of Warcraft: The Lich King”.

While the game becomes a community in itself, featuring more than 190 different styles of servers like role-playing, person versus person and battleground, it has also been the source of controversy across the country.

In October 2007, a little girl was found in a plastic box in Galveston Bay, Texas . She was known as “Baby Grace.” Her mother, Kimberly Dawn Trenor, and stepfather, Royce Clyde Zeigler II, met through “World of Warcraft” and had an instant connection. The game drew them together to the point where Trenor left Ohio and drove to Texas , where Zeigler was. Zeigler allegedly told Trenor that he didn’t like or want children, and Trenor took that to mean she was to get rid of her daughter, Riley Ann Sawyers.

Dr. Maressa Orzack has been studying the “WoW” phenomenon for several years. Orzack is a clinical psychologist, founder and coordinator of Computer Addiction Services at McLean Hospital in Newton, Mass., and an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School .

“[Blizzard> structures the games like “World of Warcraft” to be addictive. They design these MMORPGs to keep people in the game. I do think the problem is tied in with other things like family issues, but the games themselves are inherently addictive and cost of money. People have to rush to buy wow gold . That’s ultimately the cause of the problem,” Orzack said, in an interview with Rob Wright on www.tomsgames.com.

In the same interview, Orzack also mentions that 40 percent of the players on “WoW” are addicted to the game.

“The game breeds dishonesty and corruption,” Flora Langel Dekock said.

Dekock, who prefers to be known as Langel Naanad, has played “WoW” for more than four years, has over 40 characters across 12 servers and has a parental controlled account for her 8-year-old son. Dekock, 30, from Cedar Falls, Iowa , has seen many changes, good and bad, happen in the game.

Her main characters, toons as they are called in the game, are mostly Horde. The Horde are evil incarnate, with toons ranging from taurens to blood elves and undead.

Dekock plays the Horde because the Glodshire Alliance lands’ language can get vulgar.

“If you don’t stop it hard and put your foot down, it will get disgusting quickly and soon losing money, for the purchase of wow gold ,” Dekock said.

“World of Warcraft” does have limited moderation, as well as a language filter that blocks out certain words and profanity from appearing in chat. Occasionally it does have to step in to either warn someone for their language and behavior or they are banned for a period of time. However, that doesn’t stop them from coming back.

“They will just create a new account, a new character for spamming and it starts all over again,” Dekock said.

Dekock’s former roommate also became addicted to the game. Family members took her children away from her because she neglected them, she was kicked out of school because her grade point average dropped below university requirements and six months later she was fired from her job for calling in sick too many days in order to schedule attacks and plan raids with guild members.

Dekock had to kick her roommate out of the house because she wasn’t paying rent. She nearly spends all of her money play wow or buy wow gold .“She was a great woman who just got caught up in the game,” Dekock said. “It happens more often than most people realize.”

Andrew Holdeman, from Cedar Springs, Mich. , also has the addiction.

“The ease at which someone can gain experience and levels is addicting because you are challenging yourself, pushing yourself to do it again,” he said.

Because Holdeman knows he has this addiction, he tries to act out his online environment with people in real life. The 27-year-old formed a group for people who are addicted to the game and don’t leave their houses much. Once a week, they meet at a Pizza Hut or some relaxing atmosphere and talk about the game, sometimes acting out their characters in jest.

“It’s therapy for us. It’s hard to leave the game because we feel better about ourselves when we play because we aren’t judged by how we look in real life but how well we play our character and what we have to offer to raids and quests and wow gold ,” he said.

“I’m respected there,” Holdeman said.

Blizzard Entertainment and the “World of Warcraft” press machine have been trying to turn around the negativity by focusing on its anniversary. Commercials featuring William Shatner and Mr. T. are being shown across the country in order to bring more gamers in and show that even celebrities play “WoW.”

Nani Ozzie from Kingston, Texas feels that the commercials are a bad idea.

“It’s reducing the quality of the game,” Nani, 43, said. “The new people don’t want to work on their characters. They want those of us that have been around for a while to help them with quests and do the work for them.”

Ozzie has been playing the game since it first came online four years ago. She has involved the game with her family, creating accounts for her husband and 18-year-old daughter. They plan to leave the game after the expansion because the amount of spamming and sexual content has increased while the overall enjoyment of the game has dramatically decreased.

“It will be sad to leave the friends that I have made over the years, but it’s time. I don’t want to be involved in a game that allows for such perversion and addiction.”

Blizzard Entertainment, “World of Warcraft” and their respective marketing departments would not return calls to comment.

Comparison of World of Warcraft Gold Selling Sites

Competition amongst online wow gold or world of Warcraft gold sellers is fierce. Players looking to purchase  wow gold   will be pleased to discover that they have a number of website options, all of which offer gold packages at a reasonable price. Not all online gold retailers are created equal, however, and players are wise to do a little research on the major selling websites before committing to a purchase. Buying gold online can be a FQA venture, so it is vitally important to ensure that the company you are working with is reputable, secure, and discrete. You will be providing personal information and financial information to the website, so you want to make sure your information is secure. One of the most reliable WoW gold selling sites on the internet is wow gold . This site is unique in that it operates a gold futures market that promises a specified return of gold by a set date. The price quoted for a set amount of gold is based on common factors such your WoW server and your faction (Alliance or Horde), as well as the length of time you allot for delivery of the purchased gold. Players can elect to receive their gold purchases anywhere from one day to 60 days in the future. The longer the specified time frame, the cheaper the cost of the purchased gold. Since shorter timeframes require immediate and intense gold production, orders with shorter deadlines will incur a higher fee. The advantage to using a buy wow account such as is that players who order gold for their WoW accounts know exactly when they can expect to receive their currency, and can save money by selecting the appropriate delivery time frame based on their needs.By contrast, other gold selling sites do not specify a set order delivery time. Instead, orders are processed based upon current stock levels and order volumes. A player who places an order on a server that currently has a good stock of gold may receive their order quickly. However, gold orders on servers in which the current oforu supply is low (or gone) will delay the order indefinitely. A large volume of incoming orders can also delay the process for an unspecified period of time. The result is that players who order wow gold  are left to ponder when they can expect to receive their money. In some cases, delivery might take long enough to leave the player wondering why they just didn’t farm for the money on their own. Regardless of the gold vending website you select, be sure that you have done your research and are comfortable with the company, their security measures, and their delivery timeframe.

Russian Language World of Warcraft Lands On August 6

The world’s most popular MMO may see many more subscribers.

World of Warcraft is huge. Oh, what? You already knew that? Your grandma dualboxes, and each of her 16 cats have accounts and rich in wow gold ? We’re not surprised, as WOW has consistently ranked as the world’s most popular MMO by subscriber accounts since its North American release in 2004. But what if we were to tell you that the subscription number is about to get even bigger, possibly substantially so?

On August 6, 2008 the Russian language version of World of Warcraft will be made available to European markets. As we’ve said before Russia is an increasingly important and popular market for PC gaming, one of the fastest growing in the world.

In fact, according to a June 18, 2008 report from The Voice of Russia, Standard & Poor analyzed the condition of the country’s economy and found that its “gross domestic product (GDP) has grown threefold over the past five years.” When a country’s GDP increases, so does expendable income, so we’re not surprised that Blizzard would choose the Russian market as the next region for expanding their service.

World of Warcraft as a General Introduction Part Two

To help differentiate your character from others in its class, you can have it learn secondary skills—for example, fishing, first aid, cooking, or creating armor—which you can then use to produce goods for selling to other players. Admittedly, you’ll spend most of your time in World of Warcraft participating in quests that reward you with wow gold , skills, or valuable items. But these secondary skills are a lot of fun to hone, and very rewarding in their own right.
The game’s graphics, sound effects, and music are superlative. And the user interface should be familiar to anyone who’s played Warcraft III. However, the depth and complexity of the game’s information screens may be a bit daunting if you’re new to Warcraft; you have to juggle palettes to view inventory, character and skill attributes, spells (if applicable), and more. I highly recommend using a multibutton mouse to help manage the clutter. That said, Blizzard deserves credit for creating an interface that’s much more intuitive than that of some other MMORPGs I’ve played. Blizzard’s developers have also done a great job of making the Mac version every bit as beautiful as its PC counterpart.
The game costs $50 and requires a monthly service fee of $15 (less if you pay for more than a month at a time)and the cost of buying wow gold  if you need. This sort of recurring fee structure is par for the course in the MMORPG world. Your first 30 days are free, so make the most of them.
The Bottom Line World of Warcraft is an incredibly rich, complex, and fascinating world to explore. However, developing a high-level character isn’t something that happens in minutes or hours—the process takes weeks and months. Make sure you—re up to the commitment.

World of Warcraft as a General Introduction Part One

World of Warcraft offers just about everything you could want in an online world. You can set out on epic quests, earning enough

wow gold  ; discover a king’s ransom in treasure, magic items, special weapons, and armor; and interact with a parade of player and nonplayer characters. Along your journeys, you’ll come across beautifully crafted cities, each with its own architecture, and varied landscapes filled with interesting plants and animals—many of which want to feast on your flesh.

Instead of controlling large numbers of troops and resources, you’re now responsible for taking care of just one character at a time. Who that character is and what it does is entirely up to you. You choose from among the Alliance races (human, dwarf, night elf, or gnome) or the Horde races (undead, tauren, troll, or orc), select a class or profession (everything from mages and warlocks to warriors and rogues), and define physical characteristics. You can configure your character’s gender, hair, face, and skin tone to create a somewhat unique personality—though you’re bound to run into a couple of physical doppelgangers. The game lets you create multiple characters, so you can experiment to find what you like best.
When you begin playing, your character is relatively weak, defenseless, and ill-equipped. As you explore, other characters assign you quests to help you gain experience and

wow gold  .These quests usually result in the exchange of money or goods, which you can then use or sell. As in the real world, wow gold

is an important resource in World of Warcraft: you’ll need it to buy food, medicine, supplies, and (occasionally) training.
The best way to accumulate experience—and thereby raise your character’s standing—is to fight. But don’t expect your new mage to get to Level 40 just by zapping hungry wolves and angry forest bears for 36 hours straight. In an attempt to avoid level inflation by players who send characters into constant battle, Blizzard has implemented a new rest system in World of Warcraft: players who keep their characters well-rested get an experience bonus when they go into combat.

World Of Warcraft : Achievements Coming for Players

While World of Warcraft is the biggest MMORPG on the market, many players are a bit tired of the traditional hack and slash grind. Furthermore, life at level 70 can be a bit boring at times - sure you can get wow gold  and gear, but there really isn’t that much difference between having 5000 wow gold or 100,000 wow gold, especially when you already own everything else. Now Blizzard Entertainment has announced the addition of achievements to the upcoming Wrath of the Lich King Expansion. Like achievements in the console world, players will be awarded with titles, gear and bragging rights for doing everything from getting a hair cut (yes, it’s true), giving ten hugs to killing fantastic numbers of enemies in player-versus-player combat.
More than 500 individual achievements will be available in world exploration, player-versus-environment, player-versus-player and professions. A custom animation and sound will accompany each achievement earned and in-game pets, special clothing and titles will also be awarded, and with anyone can buy non of those by
wow gold
. According to Blizzard, these rewards will be “purely cosmetic” and won’t affect actual gameplay.
The new action bar will include a button that will bring up the achievements window. Achievements will show up much like quests and will display the name, description, completion date and progress bar. In addition, you can look at other players’ achievements by right-clicking their portrait. Yes, it’s just another way to compare how much time you waste compared to others.
The Wrath of the Lich King expansion is currently in alpha testing stages and presumably will be released later this year, but Blizzard hasn’t given an official date just yet. This will be the second expansion pack for World of Warcraft and the first one, The Burning Crusade, sold millions of copies in the first day of release.
As a longtime World of Warcraft player, it’s very interesting seeing the game morph into something a bit more console-like. PvP battle is now heavily weighted towards quick arena combat (unless it’s a bunch of paladins and druids fighting each other). Achievements will now make the game seem more like Halo or Resistance Fall of Man.
The last, do you really have much
wow gold
? Please selling a low price to me ,thanks…(It’s a joke)

When I grow up lyrics

wow gold
Boys call you sexy (What’s up, sexy)
And you don’t care what they say
See, every time you turn around
They screamin’ your name

[Verse 1]
Now I’ve got a confession
When I was young I wanted attention
And I promised myself that I’d do anything
Anything at all for the boys to notice me

[Bridge]
But I ain’t complaining
We all wanna be famous
So go ahead and say what you wanna say
You know what it’s like to be nameless
Want them to know what your name is
‘Cause see when I was younger I would say

[Chorus]
When I grow up
I wanna be famous
I wanna be a star
I wanna be in movies

When I grow up
I wanna see the world
Drive nice cars
I wanna have Groupies

When I grow up
Be on TV
People know me
Be on magazines

When I grow up
Fresh and clean
Number one chick when I step out on the scene

[Hook x2]
But be careful what you wish for
‘Cause you just might get it
But you just might get it
But You just might get it

[Verse 2]
They used to tell me I was silly
Until I popped up on the TV
I always wanted to be a superstar
And knew that singing songs would get me this far

[Bridge]
But I ain’t complaining
We all wanna be famous
So go ahead and say what you wanna say
You know what it’s like to be nameless
Want them to know what your name is
‘Cause see, when I was younger I would say

[Chorus]
When I grow up
I wanna be famous
I wanna be a star
I wanna be in movies

When I grow up
I wanna see the world
Drive nice cars
I wanna have Groupies

When I grow up
Be on TV
People know me
Be on magazines

When I grow up
Fresh and clean
Number one chick when I step out on the scene

[Hook x2]
Be careful what you wish for
‘Cause you just might get it
You just might get it
You just might get it

[Verse]
I see them staring at me
Oh I’m a trendsetter
Yes this is true ’cause what I do, no one can do it better
You can talk about me
‘Cause I’m a hot topic
I see you watching me, watching me, and I know you want it

[Chorus]
When I grow up
I wanna be famous
I wanna be a star
I wanna be in movies

[Chorus]
When I grow up
I wanna be famous
I wanna be a star
I wanna be in movies

When I grow up
I wanna see the world
Drive nice cars
I wanna have Groupies

When I grow up
